McKenzie’s Home

Amaka ga McKenzie – The McKenzie Home

McKenzie Noelle Wilson was a vibrant and vivacious 15-year-old who loved cheerleading, softball and spending time with her family and friends. Teachers, coaches, friends and schoolmates described her as a beautiful, kind, responsible and considerate young woman with a bubbly personality and ever-present smile, who went out of her way to make others feel special and cared for. On August 17, 2010, McKenzie passed away from a rare and sudden illness. The Wilson family created The McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation to honor McKenzie’s life and to continue her legacy, of positively impacting young people by helping them uncover their deeper purpose.

In their commitment to reaching young people around the world, The McKenzie Foundation partnered with Okoa Refuge in order to build new dormitories for the children. This included separate dorms for boys and girls, bedrooms with enough space for four children and – perhaps the most life-changing – indoor plumbing and showers.
