Helping Communities Flourish

Okoa Refuge’s Community Empowerment Programs (CEPs) foster flourishing communities by partnering with local churches to uplift the most under-resourced families throughout Uganda. Oftentimes, the children of these communities have little to no opportunity to attain an education due to poverty. Since 2013, CEPs have reached over 1,000 families by providing vital educational support, skill and vocational training, as well as spiritual and psycho-social care.

Where We Serve

There are currently eight CEP centers throughout Uganda: Kayirikiti, Kabulasoke, Kaswa, Kayonza, Kitabi, Binikiriro, Kyewanula, and Kagoyegoye.

How Our Program Works

  1. Okoa plants a church in a community.
  2. A baseline survey is done in the community to determine needs.
  3. The most vulnerable families are then enrolled to receive comprehensive support, including school fees, meals, counseling, and training aimed at holistic development.
  4. The entire village is invited to participate in community development activities facilitated by the newly planted church. This inclusive approach empowers the whole community to grow in faith, knowledge, and self-sufficiency.
  5. Sponsors like you join hands with our CEPs to see all of this accomplished!

Support Community Empowerment Programs

The success of the CEPs relies on a dedicated network of volunteers, parents, church members, and Center Coordinators who actively engage with households through home and school visits, empowering children and families with the love of Jesus.

Investing in these programs is a powerful form of orphan prevention and a lasting way to empower future generations of disciples, building resilient, vibrant communities rooted in Gospel transformation!
