How to Donate on Giving Tuesday 2024

As the most unique, Christ-centered movement for hope in Uganda, Okoa Refuge operates in several African nations and has rescued over 550 children, planted 750 churches, and opened 102 Bible schools, and we’re only getting started. Around 445 million African people still live below the poverty line, and since 2018, that number has been increasing.

Thanks to our supporters, we’ve been able to enrich the lives of thousands of people in Africa through our core ministries of child rescue, gender-based violence support and prevention, community development, bible schools, and indigenous missions.

We’re excited to take part in Giving Tuesday on December 3rd, 2024 with the proceeds raised going to support the work of our physiotherapy work with children and adults with disabilities in Uganda. With your help, we will do so much more.

Thank you.

What is Giving Tuesday All About?

Giving Tuesday is an annual, global day of generosity that encourages people to support charities, nonprofits, and causes they care about. It takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the U.S. (following Black Friday and Cyber Monday), and it’s become an opportunity to be mindful of those who need our help in the midst of a season typically centered on consumerism. Individuals, businesses, and organizations worldwide participate by donating, volunteering, or performing acts of kindness.

When is Giving Tuesday 2024?

Giving Tuesday this year will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024.

What's a Giving Tuesday Match?

A Giving Tuesday Match is when your donations are matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous organization, individual, or group of supporters. That means that for every dollar you donate during a Giving Tuesday matched funding campaign, an additional dollar is contributed by a matching partner.

This effectively doubles your donation.

At Okoa, we’re currently seeking support for matched giving for Giving Tuesday this year, and we’ll let you know on our Giving Tuesday donation page if matched funding is in place on the big day.

How Does Giving Tuesday Work?

Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, encouraging people, organizations, and businesses to support causes they care about through donations, volunteering, or acts of kindness. Organizations like Okoa often run campaigns with matching funds from sponsors to double the impact of donations, and usually spread the word on social media with the hashtag #GivingTuesday.

As a supporter, you can participate by donating money, volunteering time, or sharing support on social media. Beyond raising funds, Giving Tuesday builds community engagement and highlights the importance of giving back, making it a powerful day for positive change.
